So sad about this right now The Originals to End After Season 5

Julie Plec announced on Twitter on Thursday, The Originals is set to end after season five. Season five is set to air in 2018.

It's bad enough that The Vampire Diaries sucked the last few seasons and ended. Supernatural has not been the best, well for me the least for a couple of seasons. And that will be ending next year. Teen Wolf will be completely over soon. Also sucks my favorite host is not on America's Got Talent anymore, and can't stand the new one. Now all I will have left to watch is America's Got Talent, The Flash and WWE. Guess I'll have to try and get back into Arrow and try another hand at Supergirl for things to watching now.

* My neck was actually in good enough shape to use the computer for a half hour last night. I put some clips down! But oh noes, I put a feels clip down, and getting on with vidding instead of just watching that over and over again? Tough times.

* On the subject of vidding, Fall Equinox sign ups are open :D

* You can get the game Jotun for free on Steam atm. Don't know how long it's going to last, but it looks beautiful and you get to play a viking lady out to prove her worth to the Gods.

* The new Dr is a lady? GOOD STUFF. Now let's pray we don't get an annoying, white boy companion. I might actually have to start watching it. Meanwhile, I'll settle for watching the joy of my twitter timeline, interspersed with mockery of outright stupidity. I mean, ain't that a gem?

* Florida's Walt Disney World now has plans of adding a Star Wars-themed hotel. And they're going above and beyond. Employees will be in costume and in character at all times, you'll get an identity of your own (and I do believe costuming as well), and all the windows? Will show only outer space. (!!!)

Personally, I would like to petition for more hotels with outer space windows? Gimme a sparse, space-feeley room and THE UNIVERSE OUTSIDE MY WINDOW. Think about it, you don't even have to pay for a good view, as it'll be programmed into every single room ;D

* Note to self: RE-UP YOUR MOOD THEME BEFORE PHOTOBUCKET SWALLOWS IT WHOLE.

Went to my uncles parents for most of the day yesterday, watched them play a game called Plinko or whatever it's called for 2 hours. Then went home and then went to game night. We had a new player, Allen's tennant that lives in the back come and join. He's not bad, seems like a nice guy. We played Dungeons & Dragons from 6 to 10. Then for an hour Cory played parody type videos on the TV, which was fun. We chatted and watched them. He even showed 2 Supernatual ones, found out he watches the show. Felt bad I kind of spoiled who Chuck was. Cause he had asked me what he was, and I assumed he must of forgot the big surprise. And I was like 'Prophet?' and he was like 'Yeah' and I also unfortunatly said 'He's also God, if that's what you forgot'. Cause it seemed like he was trying to think of something else on the character. He was not too upset. Considering the videos he was showing us had major spoilers then that. But still we all had fun. The Time Warp Doctor Who was funny as well, song fit perfectly.

It was a good game, finished the round I think. I got 4 kills in. This game is a good stress reliever. :)

Of course had more family over today. Mary, Alex, Adelynn, baby AJ, Samantha and of course Patches for the weekend. God they were a bit loud today, of course with the kids screaming down the hallway.

Wow people are being so negative and upset about the new Doctor Who that got cast. I mean really? Upset about a female for the part? People are so petty. I could care less if it's a male or female playing the Doctor. As long as they are a good actor/actress I am fine with it. I'll give this series a chance, I stopped watching cause I gave Peter a chance and did not care for his interpretation of the Doctor.

Still in the three digits this week and weekend. Only supposed to cool down to the 90's. :(

So, at [community profile] vidukon_cardiff I had the immense pleasure of getting to vid alongside other vidders. It was 😍 and 🚀 and 😭. I hope everybody gets to experience this at some point, and with such a lovely and enthusiastic bunch as I got to share it with.

The way it worked was, we got split into groups of four, each given two memory sticks with six random movies and a timestamp to fill in the ever so epic Meatloaf song chosen by the brilliant [personal profile] brokenmnemonic. We all had a great time, and most people ended up sitting there through lunch, tinkering with their end of the timeline.

Then we all passed it off to [personal profile] lithiumdoll, completely unaware of what other people stuck in their bit, and she stitched it all together in time for us to watch it at the con. And a most serious time was had ;)

May I present to you fine folks: The Frankenvid! :DDDD

Shield under Phil Coulson’s direction feels like some creepy cult built to lure your ass in with vague implications of “doing good” and “looking after the world”, but in the end it’s just an organization run by a mighty whitey whedon red-shirt that demands absolute loyalty or threat of exploitation when you chose not to help them (basically, it’s just another facet of the US Government.)

I think that becomes much clearer when Daisy simply decides to trust them (because Coulson drugs the undercover Nazi guy with truth serum) and the narrative has her do it without further suspicion of their intentions in episode one, and makes it so that Mike Peterson’s mistrust of organization like SHIELD is wrong because they know better than him and he needs to be saved from himself, never-mind he had legit reasons not to trust them or Daisy (after that point), who put him in their crosshairs.

Then there’s the fact that whenever there’s an organization (like the one Jiaying set up) that isn’t affiliated with Shield (and doesn’t like them), the Whedon Klan does its best to find a way to demonize anyone who a): doesn’t want to work with shield, b): doesn’t trust shield’s intentions.

So many photos. At least they're resized so they should load decently? If you want to see one larger, just click on it (or open in new tab).

old wooden sign with Beagle Pups For Sale hand lettered in black paint on a white background
Last Saturday, D went to an auction and his purchases included the contents of some sheds on the property, most of which was scrap metal (or is now anyway). He found this sign laying flat in one old cabinet, so covered with dust you couldn't read it. And now it's mine.

On to the garden pictures! )

So. Managed to completely fuck up my neck by, ah, sleeping. Yeah. And I woke up to pee two hours before my alarm as well, and my neck was fine then. First time this has happened to me, and it is no fun.

Actually anti-fun to try and use my laptop right now, bah. Ow. Whine.

Wanting to make a post for days and days, like about how I'm watching Xena now. Or how VidUKon got me to relax and love vidding again with our bonkers fun-times collab, so now I'm also making an overly-literal Xena vidlet. #Funsies

Or about GLOW, which I finished right before starting work again. Or my trip to London/VidUKon and the awesome people thereabouts. Some articles and such I've stumbled across on twitter. How I'm going to be an aunt in not too long.

But, ow. So, here's some icons I posted, bye!

Im your worst dream come true. Im everything you ever were afraid of. )

Their is not a whole lot of pictures out their that are not duplicates of Pennywise from the show. So this set was very hard to do without screencaps of the miniseries. Recasting I chose Andy Serkis, I think he would of been interesting. I was tempted to pick Robin Williams. Also the movie had no real Otp moment for Pennywise, so I just ended up picking Beverly.

Today's the kind of day that would be both better and worse if I were working for someone else. To be fair, that's true of most days, but this one is a little more evenly matched than the usual scale tip in favor of better self-employed. The weather has me in a serious case of brain fog and that completely saps my self-motivation skills, and going into the week without a specific schedule of things to accomplish hasn't helped (although they might just have been more things not getting accomplished, honestly). Being woke up between 4 and 6 am by pounding rain 3 days this week might also have something to do with it.

Fortunately, there's very little chance of rain for the next 7 days in the forecast, and tomorrow looks to be partly sunny, so that's a definite upswing. Today is full clouds after 10 in/25.4 cm of rain in the last 4 days: 5 in/12.7 cm the first half of Monday, 3 in/7.62 cm in 2-3 hours Wednesday, and almost another 2 in/5.08 cm in 2 hours this morning. Needless to say, we're a little waterlogged. Our property has been doing okay in terms of drainage at least, even with all the ditches* full and river up. The drainage tile we installed the last two years is paying off and the new raised beds are basically my favorite thing ever now.

*Shallow types and the ones deep enough to swallow an SUV because farm country in "former" swamp ground

Anyway, I didn't plan a lot for this week because I've worked a little ahead and wanted to use that cushion to catch-up on household chores and other random things while the weather was the inconvenient-for-work sort. Which means feeling guilty for not getting a lot accomplished is like feeling you frittered away a weekend reading when you'd planned to do spring cleaning; it's really not the end of the world, but I think I'm always discomfited by a drop in motivation, regardless of how often it happens. Gotta love social conditioning.

I have at least caught up on laundry, kept myself fed (D's been running on food we both contributed to last week and weekend, whereas I wanted to use some of what's coming out of the garden), and accomplished some low key volunteering and errands including Jack's annual check-up, so that's all something. Basically it's a brain squirrels situation where they're confused due to being atmospherically stoned. Or something. I have a half dozen tabs open of DW posts to comment on so if you get one of those, uh, hopefully they're coherent.

Don't I sound like exactly the kind of person that should be wielding sharp knives in the kitchen in a few hours? Tonight is Thai basil chicken (aka Gai Pad Krapow per The Woks of Life, which is the recipe I'm largely following, but using hand chopped chicken thighs and also jalapeños because I'm weak). This is the primary reason I'm growing so much Thai basil in the first place - I put in a few plants last year, made this dish, and fell absolutely in love. I've yet to see this type of basil available anywhere around me and I only sighted seedlings a couple of times in other areas of the state this past spring.

Ideally, I'll even have pictures to share tomorrow once the sun comes out. I mean, ideally I'd also have some recs and also clean the counters, scrub the other half the floor I started last week, etc., so we'll see how that goes but it could happen.

Can you believe big corporations and the politicians who back them have been trying to regulate the internet like television and radio, since, like, 2011 (IIRC)? And with laws that would benefit major corporations (ISP in particular) and put the poor or working class at a major disadvantage, and basically make it impossible to access information if said corps. don't like sites or charge for speed? There are still posts on this blog from my LiveJournal Days back when SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA, were a thing. Like, holy, shit, they just don't stop.
